As you grow, your people will be the key to your success. 

They will also be your biggest expense, biggest risk and biggest source of problems and heartache. 

Dealing with them will take up a disproportionate amount of time and energy at times, but it is all worth it.

So finding good people is key, and keeping them happy and engaged, well trained and motivated will make your life as an owner so much simpler and easier.

In truth, people and leadership is a massive topic - and as an owner and a leader it is sensible to put processes in place to ensure an easy and clear ride for everyone. 

Setting clear expectations, drawing up job descriptions,  having regular reviews and holding people accountable, rewarding great behaviour - all of these things are essential to running a tight and happy team, and all of them require time to think through a review.

At your current stage of business evolution you may only have one or two people and may not have given any of this any thought - but if you have ambition to grow, or even the intention to build a more hands free business, then this is the stuff that you will need to put in place.
